The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen is a story about a young mermaid who falls in love with a human prince and makes a deal with the sea witch to become human so she can be with him. However, as a human she experiences great pain and must give up her voice in order to walk on land. In the end, the prince marries someone else and the Little Mermaid dies, but is given a happy ending in heaven.

The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen is a story about a duckling who is ridiculed and bullied by other ducks because he is different. He eventually grows up to be a beautiful swan, and the other ducks are amazed at how handsome he has become. This story teaches children that it is important to be themselves, even if they are different from others, and that they may be surprised at how wonderful they can become.

The dear old Moon befriends an artist and appears to tell him of one thing or another that he has seen on the previous night or on that same evening. The Moon prompts the artist to paint the scenes described, and so their friendship continues. What the moon saw is one of the twenty stories featured in this timeless collection of fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen.
