Brahma : MuseumStore : USD132.00"He is the lord of creation and wisdom. Brahma has four faces and at least four hands. The four faces represent the four vedas, and the four hands represent the four directions. The hands hold a book of the vedas (Book of Wisdom & Learning), a string of pearls for counting time, a scepter, a sacrificial spoon which is symbolic of spiritual nature and a water pot to point out that the universe evolved from water symbolizing his function as the creator. In the Upanishads, Brahma is the all-pervading divine essence : everything flowed from this and everything returned to it. Later, legends told that the formless lord of the universe, who existed in himself, created the waters and planted a seed from which a golden egg developed. He was hatched from this egg as Brahma, the absolute creator of the universe. In Hindu cosmology, the time of creation is recorded in the days of the life of Brahma. When Brahma awoke from his sleep and opened his eyes, the universe was created. When he shuts his eyes at the end of the day to go to sleep, the universe comes to an end. 11"" H, Bronze Statue " |

Pharaohs repeatedly called themselves “Merry-Amun” or Beloved of Amun. Also, since the ruler was “Son of Ra” it followed that Amun was father of the Monarch. Peter Lipman-Wulf was born in 1905 in Berlin, Germany, the son of a prominent lawyer and of a well-known sculptress. Success came early to Lipman-Wulf in pre-Nazi Germany, in the form of winning first prize in the Prussian State Competition and commissions for two marble fountains by the City of Berlin, all this between 1928 and 1932, or, before he was 27 years old. The intolerance of the Hitler era forced him to move to France, where he lived, taught, and worked under difficult circumstances. In 1937, he was awarded the gold medal at the Exposition Mondiale in Paris. Since 1947, Lipman-Wulf has made his home in New York. Pendleton CIRCLE OF LIFE -Miniature Rug & Mouse Pad : Pendleton - Native American MouseRug : MuseumStore : USD18.85"The Circle of Life is never ending. It is the message of the elders - the Chosen Ones- give to their sons and daughters, to their children and their children’s children to the Seventh Generation. The Elders give spiritual direction, the wisdom of thousands of years flow through their lips. They ask only the chance to pass on to others the way of life and love for the Creator. The Sun is round, so are the Moon and the Stars. They travel in a cricle throughout the Universe. In fact, most creations in the Universe are circular. Everything depends on everything else and is called the Circle of Life. The Circle of Life robe was designed to honor all the elders and their responsibility to teach that all things are interrelated and an equal part of the whole. “We are like drops of rain which will one day return to the ocean.” The Elders know they themselves are here as a Seventh Generation and their way of life has been preserved because of the foresight of the previous generation. “Life is like a path and we all have to walk the path. If we lay down, we lay on the path. When we get up, we walk the path again.” The Circle of Life teaches us we are all children of the Earth, that we all share an equal place in the circle, that when mixed together, the four sacred colors of yellow, red, black and white - which represents the four Directions or race of Man - create brown, the color of Mother Earth. “When we walk upon Mother Earth we always walk softly because we know the faces of the future generations are looking up at us from beneath the ground.” This robe honoring the Elders speaks of universal understandings. The east represents the Sun and is yellow, the south represents the warmth and vitality of life-blood and is red, the west represents darkness in the night sky and stars and is black and the north represents the purity of snow and is white. Each of the Four Directions represents a stage in life; east symbolizes birth, south, the vitality of youth, west, the maturity of experience and north, the wisdom age. “True wisdom comes when you stop looking for it and start living the life the Creator intended for you.” The borders are based on designs found on ceremonial pipes called puzzle pieces. The cross reinforces the Four Directions and represents the four quarters of the world and universe. “When we light the Pipe we talk to the Four Directions. It is the link between the Earth and Sky.” The Circle of LIfe exemplififes a world of dissimilar things coming together to form a harmonious beautiful pattern to the Elders who have kept these concepts alive for many generations. “The Creator created the Earth, our Mother Earth, and gave her many duties; among them to care for us, His people. So let us put our minds together as One, and give thanks. May the World we leave be a better one than what was left for us.”7""W x 10""H" |

"The Rosetta Stone - Bookends (Pair) - Rosetta, Egypt. 203BC" : MuseumStore : USD89.00"When the last temple was closed in the 6th century A.D., the skill of reading hieroglyphs was lost until the discovery of this slab of basalt stone found at Rosetta in the western delta in 1779. On the stone are three scripts. The bottom section is in Greek, the center in demotic (popular script originated in the XXVI dynasty, 700-600BC and widely used for the next thousand years), and the top in hieroglyphs. The stone was first set up in a temple. It was an elaborate “thank you” to the Greek ruler of Egypt, Ptolemy V, who reigned in the 2nd century B.C., for favors that he had given to the priests. The three scripts contained the same text, allowing the hieroglyphs to be translated. French archaeologist, Jean-Francois Champollion spent many years deciphering the symbols of the Rosetta stone. Champollion’s work in the Rosetta stone was an important breakthrough in the translation of Egyptian hieroglyphs. The stone was taken by the French, and upon Napoleon's defeat was transfered under the Treaty of Alexandria to Brittian which has held the stone in London's British Museum ever since. However, the Egyptian goverment claims the Rosetta Stone as property of Egypt and has requested what it believe should be its rightful return.Approximately 10""H x 7""W x 4""D : 12 lbs: Pair" |
