My memory goes back to 1969 Annual Examination results
- Pathology
External paper : 41/50
Internal paper : 06/50
Failed by 3 marks; grace marks allowed 2; during three
earlier years 5.
In a more democratic setup, it would be a valid police
complaint against Prof Sami Hamid for deliberately awarding 06/50 to a
student perhaps topping in external paper. Yet keeping in view probable
repercussions on my career, I made representation to principal to allow
one extra grace mark. Principal's assistant Nafees demanded BRIBE which
I refused to pay.
Incidently, principal's assistants Nafees and Mutahir
counselled parents outside PMT hall and collected Rs5000 from many parents
to influence PMT result. No one would believe it was not Principal SMH
Naqvi's venture.
The secular professor failed 4 students during supplemenatry
exam - two hindus, two muslims - out of two muslims, one shia, one sunni
- that can be verified from 1967-1970 results.
All the four failed during third attempt.
1. Me : Professor wrongly believed I had removed his
foreword from my pathology book yet to be released.
2. Not willing to name: Because he brought girls into
Jamal Hostel.
3. Kunabdullah M: Because of his antimuslim crime
- married a christian nurse.
4. Shamsher Ali : Failed also during next 4th attempt
because he "falsely claimed to be sunni, actually being shia". Jub tak
voh sach nahin bolata fail hota rehgaa.
While leaving Aligarh, I narrated all above to Principal
Col M Tajuddin and also wrote to the Vice Chancellor.

Professor RML Mehrotra : Mr Chaudhry, I feel the paper
had been somehow leaked out to you before you appeared in examinaion.
Myself : No Sir, that never happened.
Professor RML Mehrotra : That is impossible. Sitting
in library with access to all the books, some postgraduates in my department
are not able to cite references correctly. In MBBS examination, without
any aid in hall, you cite article name, authors, journal name, year, volume,
and even page numbers.
Myself : Sir, how can I convince you? Just now, please
give me any eight questions and I may be able to cite some related references,
sitting before you with no aid.

During previous years, grace marks awarded were five.
A submitted application for consideration. Born against bribe culture,
I was not mature enough to understand Nafees (secretary to principal SMH
Naqvi) saying," Agar aap pass kar diye jaate hain to ye jo aap ke hath
mein transistor hai vo mera ho jaayega?". In response to my "No", he just
smiled,"Theek hai ye application main principal sahab tak pahunchaa doonga
aur vo aap ko zaroor pass kar denge.". I am still deadly against bribing
and do not regret having refused to give Rs250 transister and save one
precious year.
That means central government during 1969 was corrupt
and recruiting IDIOTS on high posts. Every year Nafees and Mutaahir (PA
to principal SMH Naqvi) extorted around Rs5000 from many parents
outside entrance examination hall, assuring favouritism during admission,
within full knowledge of principal and university authorities. Candidates
on waiting list were sent telegrams,"....position on waiting list. Please
visit Aligarh to know if seat available. Inform whether coming or not.".
Rs20,000 were demanded from third positioner Delhi girl Savita Sharma to
supercede second positioner, Ram Sarup Chaudhry - perhaps year 1969. What
a funny telegram content! Just supersede any candidate with remarks - No
information received - Candidate did not come. - and extort money from
next incumbant.
Col Tajuddin Principal 1971:- I learnt about Nafees amd Mutaahir. Soon
after joining, I shunted them out.
The learned professor used to run free clinic (maintenance
charges Rs2/- and some share setting with chemist) well past midnight thronged
by and talking interesting things to fourth year students. After seeing
every patient, he removed cork of a six ounce dispensing bottle, took a
sip of cough syrup (XXX RUM) and put the cork back. He explains how I failed
during third attempt, after writing pathology book containing his foreword
and despite 41/55 marks in external paper :-
Annual examination is not very important - a student
has another chance. During supplementary, I fail four students - two hindus
and two muslims. Out of two muslims, one is shia and one sunni. I never
fail sikhs - they are very bold people. I also never fail christians -
they are very gentle. This time unfortunately all the four failed third
time too. One brings girls to Jamaal hostel - that is his personal
life - but whenever his answer sheet is before me, that strikes my mind.
K.C. Chaudhry should have passed - by mistake I increased the marks of
R.K. Chaudhry - next time I shall be careful. Kunhabdullah married christian
nurse against Islam - I feel I have sufficiently punished him and done
my duty toward Islam. Shamsher Ali will not pass also in fourth attempt.
He is a shia but falsely claims to be sunni. Being shia is no crime. There
are so many in the same class but why should he hide that? Until he speaks
truth, he would never pass in Pathology.
The Inside Story
A
student : Sir, I have a strange information
for you. K.C. Chaudhry's book is already in market and doing well every
where else. It is not being sold at Aligarh because it is without foreword
written by you. The day he passes out his book shall be in Aligarh market.
Learned Professor:
Achhaa! Dekhta hoon saala pass kaise hota hai.
With 2 grace marks allowed, I obtained 6/50 marks in
internal paper with failing total 47/100
In order to pass in fourth attempt, I became his virtual
secretary, offered Chaarminar cigarette packs, XXX Rum and group tickets
to Tasveer Mahal Cinema a dozen times. Also when he was offered first copy
of my book with his foreword, he cursed the misinformer. The student had
already passed out - nothing could be done against him. As Guru Dakshina,
I wrote a series of editorials THE GURU in Clinical Reporter (1974). I
shall try to replicate the same on internet.
Dr Kunhabdulla M - my covictim, later received national
award from Giani Zail Singh for short stories published in Malaya Manorama.

just within two years - Professor remains untouched, cohabiting with liver
cirrhosis.
I received a letter from GREAT Professor HB Maheshwari.
"In your book you have cited our paper with authors, Mehrotra RML, et al.
Since I am the first author, it should be Maheshwari HB et al.
I replied - Sorry Sir, it shall be rectified in next
edition. In fact I was yet to pass Pathology. With Professor RML Mehrotra
as examiner, I manipulated author statement.

Syed Ziaur Rahman:- I doubt if Prof. Sami Hameed examined and failed
students only on the basis of religion. He might have done one or two times
and not frequently. We should also look his other sides. He belonged to
a much respected family; son of a renowned parents. His father Dr. Hameed
of Lucknow was a leading modern physician (if you compare with Azizi Family
of Unani Physicians from Jhawai Tola, Lucknow). His mother belonged to
another prominent family of Bulandshahr. Prof Sami Hameed was himself a
physician at par in spite of professor at pathology department. He not
only established the department but also raised its status to the present
position. He most of the time did not charge from patients. We should also
look the positive sides of his personal life - even though, he remained
most of the time drunk, but never allowed its influence over his children.
I know almost all his children. All children from both wives are well-behaved.
He treated his children very lovingly and courteously. In fact, I recently
met his elder daughter in Pakistan who is very gentle and hard-working
lady at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (Karachi). All
other children from his second wife Prof Firoza Hameed in Aligarh are also
doing well and successfully working in good positions.

Professor Sami Hameed aissee hi misaal hain. Presumably vo apnee qaabliyat

That statement never existed. He produced MANIPULATED secular result every
year.

No, he failed students and then examined. All the year, he compiled list
of four students to fail. He threatened to fail Saeeda Naqvi, principal's
daughter. He threatened to fail meritorious son and daughter of Prof. KN
Gaur, Arvind Gaur and Lakshmi Gaur - kyunke Principal SMH Naqvi aur
Prof. KN Gaur ne unke principal banane mein taang adaayee thi.
The entire medico staff at JNMC received nonpractising
allowance. Being a nonclinician, he ran ILLEGAL clinic past midnight. With
a market trend of consultation fee Rs5/-, Rs2/ maintenance fee - charged
by him can at best be construed as low charges - NOT free or charitable
practice.

drunk ...... :- Rehman saahab yeh to maanate hain. Unka saara khaana,
peena, cigarette, unke talab-e-illum sponsor karte the yeh Rehman saahab
ko khabbar nahin hogee!
